First Words

by Shirley Tasch

It is our first words that will set the course for our day – as well as the rest of our life.  Our first words will either drag us down or lift us up to the goodness of God.  He said He would saturate His people with goodness and that should be the first words out of our mouth in the morning.  “Lord, I expect to see Your goodness today.”

We should ask the Lord to “Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.”

Ask the Holy Spirit to train you by opening your ears to the kind of words that come out of your mouth.  Meditating and speaking God’s Word and giving Him quality time will flood your spirit with His light, love and peace.

Make your first words those of praise and thanksgiving and faith.  Start each day with God’s Word and

soon they will be the words you speak all day long.  That’s how you set your life on a course headed into the goodness of God.
