"And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:"          Joel 2:28

We must practice giving all of ourselves to God not just a little of this or a little of that but all.  The more surrendered we are to Jesus, the more in tune we are with Him, hearing and obeying every prompting of His Spirit, the more powerfully He can move in the earth!   Going to God to simply get His wisdom so we can carry out our plans means we are putting “self” in the way. 

I’ll be honest with you. When we make the decision to surrender all to God, sometimes a wrestling match takes place.  We cannot do something like this on our own.  It takes the power of the Holy Spirit within us because our spirit is willing but our flesh is weak.  Our hearts want to but our flesh rebels. As we try to do what we know God wants us to do, we find ourselves continually failing.  This can set up such a terrible cycle of condemnation. 

For the past several months I have been reading Romans chapter eight out loud.  For the first two weeks I began reading it out loud twice a day. As I continue the Holy Spirit is leading me to different translations and this chapter is coming alive. There is such a strength that comes.  Whenever I am tempted to walk in the flesh a verse will rise up in my spirit man and I feel the grace of God helping me. 

Remember this.  When we surrender all to Jesus we not only help ourselves but it will affect others too.  I know we all desire to see the harvest of souls come into the kingdom of God. As we surrender, we will be more and more sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s direction and wisdom to accomplish this.  If we are open to Him, full of His Spirit and doing His will, He can pour Himself out upon those around us.
