Harmony by Shirley Tasch

This year’s Fellowship of Children’s Leaders was an extraordinary time of fellowship and unity. It was such a blessing to watch as new relationships formed during the conference. Unity and harmony are so important in our relationships in the body of Christ. After all, that is the cry of the Lord’s heart for His family. We are living in a time when we are seeing churches come together for the purpose of preaching the gospel all for the glory of the Lord. In the Amplified version of the book of Corinthians, there is a great scripture that describes the meaning of true unity. “But I urge and entreat you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you be in perfect harmony and full agreement in what you say, and that there be no dissensions or factions or divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in your common understanding and in your opinions and judgments” I Corinthians 1:10 Let’s take a look at the word “harmony”. The Oxford dictionary describes harmony as (1) A state of peaceful existence and agreement (2) The way in which different notes that are played or sung together combine to make a pleasing sound (3) A pleasing combination of related things. Now putting this in conjunction with I Corinthians 1:10, that is powerful. Just think of a choir that sings in harmony. They are each saying the very same thing but in a different tone. When it is all formed together, it is one beautiful, pleasing sound. When one person sings in discord it grates against the nerves. That’s all it takes is just one. Can you see how pleasing and beautiful it is to the Lord when His body, the church is in full harmony? That is what He is expecting before His return. This is our purpose and goal of the Fellowship of Children’s Leaders. We know how the Lord feels to see His people in unity and harmony because that is exactly how John and I felt when we saw this taking place at this year’s conference. We encourage you all to keep in touch and continue to network with each other through the year. Remember, together you are a pleasing sound to us and to our Lord.
