Thanksgiving

by Shirley Tasch

Sometimes in our lives it seems that the blessings of God just stop.  We give, we pray, we boldly confess the Word of God but still it seems like we are in a dry period, nothing seems to work.  What could the problem be? Well, could it be that we have forgotten the principle of thanksgiving?

There are numerous scriptures in the Bible that tell us to give thanksgiving to the Lord.  “Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving…” Psalm 95:2 “O give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.”  Psalm 107:1 The Word of God is full of scriptures like that.  Notice Psalm 107:21.  “Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!” It seems like God is imploring us to tell people of His goodness.   Look at verse twenty-two. “And let them sacrifice the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works with rejoicing.”

Maybe it’s time to check our attitude.  Do we have the “attitude of gratitude?”  Our minds can be so cluttered with the cares of this world that thanksgiving to the Lord takes a back seat.  When is the last time you gave thanks for the beautiful sunset or the songs of his precious birds?  The Father loves it when we thank Him for the little things that mean so much to us personally.

Thanksgiving does wonders not only for our Father but our own well-fare and mental being.  While we are waiting on the manifestation of our prayers, it will bring a calming and peace to our soul. When things just don’t seem to be happening start giving thanks and soon you will see the breakthrough you need.
