What Everyone Should Know by Shirley Tasch

As born again believers we all should be familiar with our covenant that was ratified by the blood of Jesus. In Hebrews 8:10 the word covenant means “contract.” “For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord: I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people.” In I Corinthians 11:25 the word testament translates “covenant.” This portion of scripture is actually telling us that Jesus shed His blood to seal our covenant between God and us. The covenant is a fascinating subject to investigate. In pursuing the study of the covenant one finds that we have many benefits included. Take a look at them in Psalm 103 for instance. Healing, prosperity, and protection (Psalm 91 is all about protection) are in our covenant as well as forgiveness. Our Father has given His word that He will keep covenant with us. However, we have to keep our part of the covenant also. We have a responsibility to obey Him. We also have a responsibility to say what He is saying in the covenant and believe that it will come to pass in our lives. The bible is not about the covenant it is the covenant. It is imperative that we teach children about their covenant with God. It will keep them when times get tough, for they will have it in their hearts at an early age, and will be stable and fixed in their faith in God. I cannot stress enough how important it is that we train children early on to stand on their covenant. I urge you to get into a serious study so you will be well equipped and informed to teach it to the children. By the way, you will benefit from it yourself.
